 About Me

Hi, I'm Rob St. Jean

Robbie St. Jean – 5th Degree Black Belt American Kenpo, Associate Professor; 3rd Degree Black Belt, Kyusho-Jitsu; Blue Belt Stripe 3, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu:  Caique Jiu-Jitsu Windsor Essex

Robbie St. Jean began his journey into martial arts in 1986 with a seasonal trial offer at a Scarborough, Ontario recreation center. Enrolled in traditional karate alongside his foster brother, his early training was brief but pivotal, sparking a passion that would resurface years later.

On February 18, 2000, Robbie stepped into Steve Stewart’s Modern Martial Arts affiliate school in Chatham, Ontario, under the guidance of instructor Gary Anstice. This renewed exposure rekindled his interest, leading him to fully commit to a lifelong study of martial arts. As an orange belt, Robbie was invited to begin assisting in classes, teaching Kenpo Karate to beginners, and found himself drawn to the fulfillment of teaching. It was then he realized his goal of opening his own school.

Robbie’s dedication led him to join the Pressure Points Study Group, and he earned his 1st Dan Black Belt in Kyusho Jitsu on May 25, 2002. The following year, on July 1, 2003, he achieved his 1st Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate. With his growing expertise, on September 27, 2004, Sensei Rob opened his first school, Dynasty Martial Arts (DMA), in Blenheim, Ontario. Over the years, his passion and dedication propelled him through a series of advancements, including:

  • 2nd Dan in Kyusho-Jitsu on October 29, 2004
  • 2nd Degree Black Belt in American Kenpo Karate on June 26, 2005
  • 3rd Dan in Kyusho-Jitsu on November 10, 2006
  • 3rd Degree Black Belt in American Kenpo on July 1, 2007

In addition to growing his own skill set, Robbie has supported fellow instructors in launching their martial arts schools. He prioritizes the development of leadership among his Junior Black Belts and Assistant Instructors, encouraging Black Belt Excellence in all areas of their lives. His second DMA location opened in Sarnia, Ontario, on October 2, 2008. By February 2013, Dynasty Martial Arts became a charter member under Grandmaster Larry Tatum’s LTKKA organization.

A versatile martial artist, Sensei Rob began Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on June 18, 2013, training under Thomas Armstrong at Gracie Barra Chatham. He transferred the ownership of his Sarnia school to Sensei Randy, one of his students since 2007, on September 1, 2016, and later introduced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to DMA through Armstrong Submission in 2018. Sensei Rob continues his progression in BJJ and currently holds a blue belt with three stripes, under the guidance of Caique Jiu-Jitsu Windsor Essex.

In pursuit of mastery, he became a student at Seabrook Martial Arts Academy (SMAA) in 2022, training under Jamie Seabrook to achieve his 5th Degree Black Belt in Kenpo. On July 21, 2024, Robbie joined the PKKA, Phasic Kenpo Karate Alliance, adding another chapter to his distinguished career. September 27, 2024, marked the 20th anniversary of Dynasty Martial Arts, and on September 28, 2024, Sensei Rob achieved his 5th Degree Black Belt, presented by 9th Degree Master of the Arts, Jamie Seabrook. On the same day, Robbie’s 5th Degree Black Belt was witnessed by Master Todd Durgan, who verified it with a signature of approval.

Today, Sensei Robbie St. Jean is committed to expanding his school and instilling the values of martial arts in his students. He continues to teach, inspire, and encourage students to explore how martial arts can positively impact their lives. Robbie is always hosting seminars in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and American Kenpo Karate, sharing not only his knowledge but also that of esteemed guest instructors, enriching the experience for students of all levels.
